Question: Why can I not receive any sound from my hearing aid?
Answer 1: The on/off switch may be set to "O" (off). Set it to "M" (on).
Answer 2: The battery may be dead. (See battery instructions).
Question: Why is the sound from my hearing aid not as clear as it was when new?
Answer: The most common causes of deterioration of sound quality are:
- Battery is weak but not dead (test and/or replace battery).
- Ear bud needs cleaning (See cleaning instructions).
- Accumulation of wax from the ear canal. The closer the hearing aid location is to the ear canal where the wax is eliminated, the greater the operating problems. The Hearken H85 is not susceptible to this problem (as are hearing aids worn inside the ear canal) because it is worn outside of the ear, away from the ear canal and wax accumulation. The washable ear bud is the only part of the H85 that comes into contact with the ear canal.
